Thank you for your interest in Project Self-Sufficiency! We provide intensive support, information and assistance to low-income, single parents who are ready to focus on education and career goals.
The Selfpower program model is an education and career pathways program. The two program pathways currently offered at Project Self-Sufficiency are:
GED Program -
Applicants seeking high-school equivalency (GED) must provide recent TABE scores (12 months or less). Project Self-Sufficiency will pay for testing on behalf of Applicants, in order to remove financial barriers to completing this requirement.
- Project Self-Sufficiency requires Reading scores of 536 or higher and Math scores of 496 or higher.
- A composite score can be considered when one score is a bit too low. Project Self-Sufficiency requires a composite score of 1032 or higher.
Post-Secondary Program -
Applicants seeking a Certificate, Associate, or Bachelor's degree must follow our Post-Secondary education track, including career exploration, adult education, and career placement activities. We do not accept people into the program who already have a Bachelor’s degree.
There are some educational pathways that Project Self-Sufficiency will not support due to low wages, as reported by the Department of Labor, including, but not limited to, Cosmetology/Barber, Massage Therapy, and Esthetician. We also do not support attending for-profit, private educational institutions due to financial risk and/or lack of accreditation.
